We contracted with Empire Today on September 21st to install hard wood floors in 4 rooms of our home. The installation was originally scheduled for October 3rd (12 days after the purchase) and Empire called on September 26th to confirm October 3rd as the installation date.

On October 1st we were notified that Empire didn’t have enough product to do the installation in their local warehouse & the installation would be rescheduled. We later learned that the product was in the Dallas warehouse & needed to be shipped to Houston but no one had bothered to check the inventory until 2 days before the scheduled installation. No one ever called to reschedule the installation so we finally called and after considerable run-a-round finally got the installation scheduled for October 10th. No one called to confirm but they finally arrived at 9:30 on the 10th but then left at 3pm saying they would return the next day between 7 & 8 am.

They arrived on day 2 of the installation at 9:30am instead of the 7-8 that they promised. They pretty much completed the job except for finishing the borders at the room entrances and around the walls. The left on day 2 around 5pm stating they would go to the warehouse and would be back at 9:30 the next day to finish the job. They never showed and did not call to reschedule.

We were told when we called to inquire about the status that the installers were on another job and the Empire representative rudely stated “you aren’t our only customer”. We never did get an explanation as to why the installers were pulled off our job before it was completed.

When the installer finally arrived to complete the job he was by himself so was unable to move some of the furniture so left without completing the job.

Had empire come to put in floors and they brout the wrong flooring and the carpet isnt going to be put in until later so far am very pissed off and cant get in touch with anyone and sales rep lied about everything

Worst customer service ever. Once they get your money they completely ignore you.

They say they are getting help but never return calls. They've had our money almost a month now and job still not done even though they keep confirming dates and don't show because they are out of product.

They say they will offer us compensation but that was a big lie. I will never do business or recommend empire today

We had new laminate flooring installed 2 days ago, and although it looks beautiful, there's creaking everywhere we walk. I figured maybe it would take a day or two to settle or something, but it's really bothering me after 2 days.

I called Customer Service and they said there's only ONE person that handles these types of calls/issues and we would be contacted within 1-3 business days.

I have a sunken feeling right now and I just pray that they will cooperate and resolve the issue quickly. Otherwise, I will ask for a full refund and they can take back all the laminate!

I cannot speak to how good a service this company provides but I can tell you management is crooked. Their scam is not a common one.

I subcontracted as an electrician at their El Paso, Texas facility. They were pleased with the work I did and although they held onto their payment for a while they did eventually pay.

I contracted for more work and sank quite a bit of money into the job. The economy had just tanked and my business was extremely slow. As a result of poor cash flow I ran out of money and informed them I need some payment on my outstanding invoices in order to finish the work. I was nearly done.

Suddenly they wouldn't respond to my phone calls or faxes. This went on for weeks. I was desperate. Realizing I was never going to be paid I returned for the materials I had left at the job site and the manager wouldn't return several hundred dollars in materials saying he had already paid for them. I couldn't get past the front desk so I finally gave up.

When I was first hired I was told a strange story about the previous electrician. They had pulled all the wire out of the conduit and abandoned the job. We were hired to finish the job. This was strange behavior that made no sense to me. Now I understand the same thing happened to them and they removed the wire in order to recover some of their outlay.

I had my laminate installed in my condo back in January of 2008, with blinds on all windows, which ended up costing me almost $10,000! My condo is not even 1,050 feet.

First of all the salesperson was nice and informative but when I called the next day to say I needed a day or two to think about it, the pressure was on for them to try and convince me to come out the next day (so I wouldn't change my mind - I'm sure!) The crew came out, about 6 of them, contract workers, and only the foreman and his son spoke English. It took appx. 12 hours for the installation. The next day or so I went into my second bedroom and noticed something was not right.

There was a picture missing off the wall. It was placed in the closet on a shelf possibly in hope I would not notice ... It had fallen and the glass was broken. When I complained to Empire Today, they said they would replace the frame.

It was not the price of the frame, it was the hiding of the broken picture!

I did not like the high price, the fact that it was cold outside and they did not let the laminate flooring warm up and reach room temperature before installation as I've learned they need to to (it was JANUARY and coooold outside!) nor did I appreciate their high pressure tactics! All I can say is -- BUYER BEWARE!!!
