I' sorry about the day my husband and I let your salesman set foot in out condo. We have had nothing but problems with Empire Today sine the very day our laminate flooring was instaled.

After a huge battle with corporate this failing only agreed to credit us 500.00. Since that inital problem we now have a section of the laminate peeling away from the backing of the floor. We have been calling service since January. Our calls are never returned.

The month of April I left a message that I was going to get the media involved, still no call. I have had it with this company.

They only know haw to sale you a bill of goods and then getting them back to repair inferior products is neatly impossible. Frustrated & Pissed!

Update by user Mar 31, 2011

The floor we had done was put in this jan 2011. So it\'s been a month since we had waited for someone to come and call. No one yet.

Original review posted by user Mar 31, 2011

This is what I have to share with Empire. We had our whole house done with Empire, we did carpet and hard wood floors, spent like $14,000.

A month later my son spray windex on our floor and it warped. Now the guy that installed it said, to clean it with windex. Never got around to using it. Thank God I didn't.

We called Empire and the only thing they could say to us is that it wasn't under warranty. They said they would send someone out to take a look at it and no one ever came. They didn't even called to see what was going on. They got paid so way do they care now.

I was going to do window treatments, but not now, Not after the way we were treated. I will never spend another dime with this company and I will be telling all my friends and family that are looking for carpeting and flooring not to call Empire.

Thanks alot for all your help I see how you treat your customers, very disappointed with this company. We had extra flooring, all they had to do is fix like 3 boards and we would have been ok.

I contracted with Empire to install 2 rooms of carpet and 3 rooms of vinyl flooring. I paid them at the instant the work began...not when finished!

My first mistake. I learned that the salesman had misrepresented the carpeting as to it's soil resistance and also that ALL installers were employees of Empire and were not subcontracted. That is all a lie.

The carpet is NOT 100% soil resistant but is only top-coated with a soil resister. Empire does not have installers as employers but ALL are sub-contracted out.

I was told that Empire does have a non-compete agreement with the installers. Big deal.

The vinyl installed in my kitchen, dining room and laundry area has been plagued with a series of large bubbles in an area about 6' x 8'. An installer has been here twice to fix it and they are still there. The last time he came he added glue to the bubble and put a cement block on top of it and said "leave it a day or two." He was to have come back the next day.

That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen him or heard from the company. I had an appt for a repair today, 3/28 at 1 pm - 3 pm. I waited and finally got a call at 7pm from the man who said he got tied up and just couldn't get there. I was talking to him on a cell phone.

Why didn't he call, I asked. He just giggled and said "well, you know how that goes." I am absolutely angry and will NEVER do business with Empire again.

Empire did a high pressure sales tactic with the wood floors they sold me. My wife and I asked the sales rep about our dogs, we have two Labradors, being on the floor at least five times and if they would scratch them. We even showed the dogs to him. He said he knew people with bigger dogs that had the same flooring we were thinking about putting in and they did not scratch the floors. We had the dogs come downstairs after the installation crew finished for the night and they scratched the floor right away. They didn't scratch the wood finish just the protective finish.

We were told by the sales rep that they would be putting a floating floor down with quiet walk underneath the flooring. When the installers arrived and we questioned them about the quiet walk, we were told they never did this type of flooring with the quiet walk that the only way this flooring was installed was with glue. The installation of the floor was satisfactory, but their clean up needs improvement. I had glue on the walls, doors, appliances and they took paint off the walls with their cleaning solution. They also didn't take the floor all the way under the dishwasher and therefore made the dishwasher unlevel. Myself and a friend had to cut pieces to go under the back legs of the dishwasher to make it level.

They offered a monetary value to me but it was more of an insult for the expense I have had to endure. We would have bought different flooring from them if they would have been truthful with us. I would not recommend using Empire for your flooring needs.

My wife and I contracted Empire floors To install laminate flooring in our home.We Finaced 4000.00 dollars and in the last ten months the flooring has separated 4 times.

We were advised we would be recieving a credit. This last time we were told by customer service that a Manager ( cant say her name for legal reasons )would be handling our case from now on. She has failed to contact us.It has taken multiple calls to corp office customer service reps for a priority notice for her to contact us after 2 1/2 weeks of waiting.

We have been advised that no credit will be issued because they replaced the entire floor. They say customer satisfaction is Important to them well it dosen't seem like it to us. My wife and I work very hard and our house has been in turmoil for the last ten monmths. Were about to make final payment However if anyone was to ask what time of customer service we recieved I would be ashamed if i worked for this company and treated my customers this way.

Rating The Installer was the best thing this company provided. Customer service taking care of customer they failed Miserably !!

If and when this floor separates again we will be seeking an attorney.. We would never recommend this comapany to provide flooring to anyones homes!!!!

Tonight, February 7, 2011, I sat in the same dining room area as in November, again to be given five quotes for a two bedroom job. Firstly, your salesperson brought the highest price-point board to the apartment and nothing else. After measuring the two rooms, he quickly concluded that the 304 sq. ft. would cost $3200.00 for laminate flooring. That was almost the total approximate cost of the job above. When I expressed my displeasure to him, he stated that he was discussing the best product and why would I want something cheaper (like to product I had purchased in November)? As if that insult was enough, he proceeded to state that people are insulted when he brings the product I had on my floor to their consulting appointment. I told him that I did not have a lot of faith in his quotes and that the experience was why we called a regional manager prior to his visit. After that statement, he quoted us $1400.00 for both rooms using the American Way product. I agreed that I could live with that price but needed to see the colors because I wanted a darker color in the bedrooms compared to what I have currently in the other rooms. He stated that American Way did not come in very dark colors and that only high-gloss came in dark colors but the price-point was just like the $3200.00 quote. When he left o get the other board, my husband and I noticed on his price-point paper that high-gloss was actually the least expensive. Upon his return, my husband pointed out that the high-gloss product on his price-point sheet was in fact the least expensive on the sheet. Annoyed that we had looked at the paper, he said he miscalculated the $1400.00 price and it was really $2800.00. Then he said we would get a $200.00 discount for being a return customer, so in fact we would have to pay $2600.00. When I said to my husband, "Let's just call the regional manager," the salesperson offered to call his manager to determine if we could get a deal. After speaking to the manager (and never offering that he quoted us a price of $1400.00), the salesperson said that the manger would offer us "This price." At that time, he did not say a price, but instead placed $1800 on the calculator and turned it toward us resembling a bad rendition of a stereotypical used car salesperson. I pointed out that within 30 minutes he had indeed offered five different prices for two bedrooms and rehashed the experience with him. He started to pretend to nod and finally said, "So you're not interested?" I told him that I take spending my money very seriously and that he should know that I planned to call the national office. He then stood-up, laughed, and started walking to the door. When my husband and I told him that nothing was funny, he stopped and said I'm laughing because you didn't have to restate everything that happened. He further stated, "I only offered you two prices because the mistake doesn't count. I am not perfect and you are not perfect. If you had signed the paper, oh well. You didn't sign it and so it doesn't count." I then stated that it counts to me because I am a customer and when you tell me a price I agree to, I expect you to stick to it. I also told him that I would be calling the national office again. He turned to the door and said, "You can call who you want to call. You can call national, regional or Obama, "and walked out of the door.

Needless to say, I am highly insulted by this unprofessional salesperson sent to my home by your company! I wonder what kind of recruiting you do and what type of training is offered to your salespeople. Although I had a bad first experience, I gave your company the benefit of the doubt because your product looks good in my home. I never imagined that the second experience would top the second experience in a bad way. I am compelled to ask the following questions:

"¢Why have I had two consecutive similar experiences that appear to be of a swindling nature?

"¢Why did your salesman appear to be so comfortable with disrespecting me and my husband?

"¢What type of training do your salespeople receive that they believe a calculation error (if indeed it was a miscalculation) should be ignored by all

"¢Is the service offered, in some areas, a different caliber compared to others (I find it hard to believe that you provide this service in more affluent areas)?

"¢Is your corporate office condoning the behaviors of the salespeople?

"¢Is this an issue for my local Congressman? How many other customers in this area are being taken advantaged of by Empire salespeople?

Used Empire Today Carpet for over 10 years, Loved what they did for our apartment, when we bought a townhouse we called them back out to redo our floors and carpet. We asked for the same carpet as we had in our apartment, NOT the same, and the quality is not as good.

Empire Today sent out someone named Tom to analyze the carpet. He reported back there is nothing wrong with the carpet, so there is nothing Empire can do. I didn't say anything was wrong with the carpet, it is just not the carpet we requested. Also, our bathroom floor with laminate hardwood have separated and come up.

Again their main man Tom the analyzer came our again, with some kind of tool to check the floor. Tom reported back there is moisture under the floor so there is nothing Empire can do. My problem is, there was no moisture under the floor before they worked on it, and if replacing the floor the toilet was not replaced and sealed correctly I should not be held responsible and left without any kind of warranty. For a room with measurements like 4x4, they said Empire Today can redo the bathroom for about $530.00 The same exact situation happened with my mother in law.

The wife and I were very happy with their serve over the past 10 years, but when we bought our home, it was a different situation with no sense of commitment or dedication with a valid and reasonable alternative for a repeat customer. Now we are in a situation to call another company to come fix what they could NOT.

We purchased laminate flooring through Empire Today and had their installers put the flooring in, total bill was 5800.00. Now we have the floor separating both horizontally and vertically at the interlocking system.

They have been out 3 times with the installer, installation manager as well as a independent inspector. The offered to replace most of the flooring in the high traffic areas, the floor looks the same under the couch and other areas that are not high traffic-other than the 5 lb cat that can wiggle into those areas. We want a whole new floor and they will not budge so far. We are not confident in the product and have told them just to come and take the floor up- we do not want it.

We have been going through this for 3 months now and we have only had the floor for a total of almost 11 months. We do not and have not recommended them.

We are considering contacting a lawyer. It is not a 5800 floor by any means, our patience is out.

I paid $8000 for laminate flooring from Empire. It got water damage, which I understand is not covered on warranty.

All I wanted was to get it repaired- I would pay. Guess what? They no longer stock the floor. I am totally screwed.

The salesman came out and basically I can rip up the whole floor or just "keep the couch where it is". When I put this floor in, one of my concerns was that I would be able to match it down the line. Well the company lied. Don't trust what they tell you.

When and if I decide to sell my house, I will have to either disclose to the buyer (because I am not a liar)give money towards replacement or replace it myself. The floor is only a few years old.

So much for a lifetime warranty!!!!!

Unfortunately, when it comes to subfloors, it is sometimes difficult to determine the price and the areas that need to be fixed until the existing floor is removed. Empire’s professional installers will evaluate each situation individually and determine the best approach since no two floors are alike. When installing new flooring, it is essential that the floors be prepped properly. I would like to opportunity to further discuss your concerns with you directly. Empire came out and said they could repair my floor after I told them I had someone else coming out to fix it. So, I agreed to have them repair my floor and install carpet as well.

Total $1250. This price included us moving the furniture and taking up the old carpet and laminate flooring. However, when the installers came out they said that fixing the floor would cost an extra $500 cash direct to them. I only needed about 5 pieces of plywood to cover the whole floor, but they said we needed 10 pieces.

I had only three spots to repair but, they wanted to do the entire area. Bull Butter !! I called Empire and canceled my order. Then I hired the other contractor, who said he could do the repair with 2 pieces of plywood for about $350 total.

Wow!! So, stay away from the Empire of Darkness because they will jack their price way up after their initial quote.

Empire flooring will not stand behind their guaranty on the laminate flooring.

18x26 foot room was installed and in a short time the floor buckled and the middle rose up 2". They sent a man with a 'moisture guage' to see if the floor was wet underneath. He ask what we cleaned it with and I showed him the swiffer wet jet 'For Laminate Floors'. That was Empires reason for not fixing the floor. Because we used a wet jet!

I had another flooring cpmpany come to tell me why the floor raised in the middle like that and as soon as they saw it they said it was because it was installed too tight. It needed to 'float' and was not enough space along the edges.

Empire would not do anything they said to stand behind their product!

I would like the opportunity to speak with you regarding the information that you provided in your recent post, unfortunately, I'm not able to locate your contact information in our system based on the details that were provided. Empire does offer a one year installation warranty and each of our products comes with manufacturer warranties. I understand based on the information that we did also have an independent third party inspect the floor. I would like the opportunity to review the inspection report and the information that we have on file. Once that is completed, we can then discuss the details and hopefully determine a mutual resolution. My contact information is customersupport@empiretoday.com or call 888-588-2315 x4195. I purchased a laminate floor in August of 2009. 7 months later we called to complain about warping and separating on the seams.

Empire sent out a third party company to look at the floor. They said it was our fault even though we do not have pets and followed their cleaning instructions. I am afraid of how horrible this floor will look 5 years from now. I feel like I wasted $5000!!!

we took excellent care of the floor and after less than a year it is damaged, Empire will not stand behind their product and keep giving us a run around.

Do not buy anything from Empire today!!!!
