I have had hardwood installation with Empire in the past that went without a hitch. I contacted Empire once again to finish the other areas (had to pay off the first area). I was not told it was a 2 day job. The 1 person arrived without any tools to begin the job - he was going to remove the carpet only. I took a day off from work to have this job done. I contacted customer relations who left a message for the installation manager to call back - which he did not do. 5 hours later I contacted him and the installation is scheduled for this weekend. There has been no compensation for my time wasted waiting for a job that was not begun. I will give the person that showed credit - he did not remove the carpet because he didn't want the sub flooring exposed due to splinters. This is not good customer service!

Empire Today Reps are Scammers
We were scammed by the rep that came to give us our free estimate. We were supposed to get 50% off of the laminate flooring that we chose but some how we ended up paying $14.50 per square foot when other company's were charging as low as $2 per square foot. The rep was a fast talker with horrible things to say about competition. The day of installation I asked the installers for a break down of cost. They couldn't give me answers. We called BBB (Better Business Bureau)to make a complaint. The customer service rep that responded to our complaint was very rude and condescending. After all of their lies, BBB had no choice but to cancel the complaint. At this point we felt hopeless, since we couldn't get help from BBB so we ended up up stuck with the floors and paying for *** service. We would never recommend Empire Today fro ANYONE!
Empire Today....Not tomorrow, never again
I purchased laminates for my kitchen and carpeting for 3 bedrooms. The sales person did not offer the advertised sale, she said "Her price is better". She also refused to offer an itemized bill so a customer can compare prices. Low Price Guarantee...HA! The kitchen was mismeasured because 6 boxes of laminates were ordered and only 4 and 1/2 boxes were used. The installer took the paid for box and a half.I paid for 6 boxes. I contacted "Customer Service" numerous times and have been getting a run around for 2 weeks. I want the 4 tiles left over from the 5th box and a refund for the 6th box that was ordered, and didn't need to be ordered. I was also charged to move non-existent furniture or appliances which I want refunded. I left a message on Rebekah Clerks answering machine over 10 days ago and have never heard from her.Unfortunately Empire Today doesn't itemize anything to the customer. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
Empire Today strikes again
I had Empire Today come to my home for an estimate on flooring. The salesman suggested laminate. I explained that my husband and I both work and we have two small dogs. We might be gone for 8 or 9 hours. What if there's an accident. Salesperson said and I quote "no problem at all, spills of all kinds wipe right up". We asked again, are you sure. Response, "yes, positive". less than a year old and we notice the floor is lifting. They send a person to inspect. Of course by now, you know the end of the story. They will not do anything. The dog had an accident and the floor is ruined. I called and called and got Tim Sherwin who said he's a manager for Customer Service. He calls with a "restricted" number. Is he afraid of something? And he is rude and condescending like all the other reviewers have commented. He even told me to "have a nice day" before he hung up on me. So, here's the scoop. I have written to the CEO, Steve Silvers, The Office of the Atty General for NJ and Channel 7. I will not give up until I get my money back from these liars, who cheat innocent, hard working people who just want their homes to look nice. They lie and the best of all is I went to the manufacturer's website and it said the flooring they sold me is meant for "small office spaces with less traffic"..they put it in my entrance way where everyone in the world comes and goes...DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
Empire Today in Orlando, Florida - Promises broken!
We were alarmed to find the carpet in our "new" used house not the way we remembered when we looked at the house prior to buying it (this was on a Thurs.). It was trashed. Our movers were due to bring our stuff on Saturday. We called Empire, after having seen/heard all the commercials about their next day delivery. The salesman came out Friday and promised that our carpet would be installed the next day on Sat. We called the movers and asked if they could come Monday instead. Lo and behold, no carpet on Sat. We were told that, "The wrong code was entered into the computer", and the carpet didn't get delivered. Instead the carpet came on Monday-- at the same time as the movers. Needless to say, the movers were pissed and we ended up with almost all of our household goods put into our garage, instead of actually into the house where they belonged. We were promised that we would be "compensated". Nothing. My husband has called several times and spoke with several different people. When asked what we wanted, we have suggested several things to which we always get the reply, "I can't do that." We are a military family who moves every three years. Moving is stressful enough. We were relying on Empire to get us what we needed, but what we got was more stress and chaos. I am hoping that the word gets out, so that it does not happen to any one else. We do not need the extra stress.
Empire Today in Commerce Township, Michigan - Held up my refund for 3 weeks and counting
I signed a contract to have empire replace the linoleum in my kitchen with ceramic tile.I was given a price of $5218 and I agrred.I gave him a deposit of $2608 on july 29,2010.I cancelled that install the next day and have been waiting nearly 3 weeks for my refund.I have been told the check was mailed out 10 days ago and it would take 7 to 10 days,I was told the check was lost and it was mailed out yesterday and today I was told the check was just cut and will be in the mail today.The customer service people are heartless liars and this company has done nothing for me but keep my money for to long and lie to me repeatedly.I'm considering looking into a class action lawsuit against them for price gouging misrepresentation and unfair buisness practices.Email me if your interested in getting this companies attention at firstname.lastname@example.org
Empire today has poor quality flooring
I purchased a laminate floor in August of 2009. 7 months later we called to complain about warping and separating on the seams. Empire sent out a third party company to look at the floor. They said it was our fault even though we do not have pets and followed their cleaning instructions. I am afraid of how horrible this floor will look 5 years from now. I feel like I wasted $5000!!! we took excellent care of the floor and after less than a year it is damaged, Empire will not stand behind their product and keep giving us a run around. Do not buy anything from Empire today!!!!
Empire Today in Norwalk, Connecticut - Bait and Switch
I had a salesman in my home 3 days ago and he gave me a ridiculously high quote. After a few minutes he eventual brought his price down to a reasonable level. At the time of the negotiation I repeatedly asked him if the carpet in his sample was the same as the carpet I was going to receive... each time he assured me it would be. When the installers showed up several days later they showed me the carpet in the back of the van and asked me if "it was the right color"? It was, as far as I could tell from the corner they turned down of the roll. I said is that "winter wheat" they said "yes" so all was good. I asked them if they would be able to replace the transitions between the wood and carpet and they said they would. All seemed ok so I left my wife with the installers and headed out to work. When I returned home I was appalled at what I saw. They left a roll of the extra carpet in the kitchen and I could immediately tall it was not the same "texture" or "pile" of what I had seen during the sales pitch. It was not even close! I reluctantly went to the bedrooms to see and feel it first hand. It was so thin I might as well have just laid towels on the floor. Around the edges you can actually feel the tack-strip through the carpet. The transitions strip in one doorway wasn't even screwed in it was just laid in place with the screws slid into the holes. In the other doorway their screws were only half sunk and some cheap brass type that when I tried to sink them further they just stripped... I immediately called the salesman and he sent me to the 1-800 number. The people there gave me a "number"... What this "number" means to me I have no idea. From what I can gather I just entered the first level of their corporate run-around. I guess I am supposed to wait for them to do something, needless to say I am not going to hold my breath. I have never done this before and I am posting this in hopes of saving at least 1 person from the horrible deflated feeling of having spent hard-earned money only to be disappointed by a company with poor morals.
